Who we are

Latin American roots. An open invitation to connect.

Art, culture and community

AMARTE is a South Australian not-for-profit community organisation with Latin American roots. We create spaces where art, culture and coming together make it possible to share experiences, build relationships and strengthen a sense of belonging.

Our beginnings

AMARTE grew from migration experiences and a shared desire to build community in Adelaide. Among those who shaped it was a common need: places to express themselves authentically, share their cultures and support one another through the challenges and possibilities of starting a life somewhere new.

Friendship, creativity and the group’s varied skills became an invitation to create with others. Our Latin American roots are a starting point for connecting with other cultures and the wider Australian community.

Our purpose

Creating community through art, nurturing wellbeing and connection between people.

A community we build together

AMARTE takes shape through the people who create, participate and collaborate. Different skills, stories and ways of taking part bring our artistic and community spaces to life.

There is room to share an idea, join an activity or explore a collaboration.

AMARTE CULTURE

Acknowledgement of Country

AMARTE Culture acknowledges the Kaurna People of the Adelaide Plains as the Traditional Custodians of the Country where we gather, create and connect. We pay our respects to Kaurna Elders past and present, and honour their enduring cultural and spiritual connection to Country.

We honour the First Peoples of this land, whose cultures, stories and connections to Country continue across generations.

As we gather on Kaurna Country, we do so with respect for its Traditional Custodians and their continuing care for Country.

About Country and Elders

Country encompasses relationships with land, waters, culture and community. Elders are recognised cultural knowledge holders and leaders. These terms are retained in the Spanish version to respect their specific meaning.
