What we do

Three areas. A shared purpose.

Creating community through art, nurturing wellbeing and connection between people.

From a creative exercise to a cultural gathering or a performance, each format offers a different way to take part.

01

Workshops

An invitation to try

Participatory experiences where art invites us to explore our experiences, create and connect with others. Through play, listening and shared creativity, we make room for different voices and ways of taking part.

Our workshops currently explore theatre and improvisation, alongside dance experiences developed with dancers and partner organisations. We also draw on poetry, movement and other expressive arts, and hope to bring music into future workshops. Each proposal takes shape around the people, their interests and the context.

Culture brings us together

Encounters where people share culture, stories and experiences. Music, conversation and creative participation offer ways to connect with one another and with the wider community.

Spaces we have created

Contando Historias, Agitando Pañuelos, Día de la Canción Criolla and Deseos are examples of past gatherings within our work creating cultural and community spaces.

Stories meet an audience

We create and present artistic experiences that bring stories, identities and cultural expressions into dialogue with audiences. Theatre, music, dance and other artistic interventions can take place on stage or within community gatherings.

AMARTE CULTURE

Acknowledgement of Country

AMARTE Culture acknowledges the Kaurna People of the Adelaide Plains as the Traditional Custodians of the Country where we gather, create and connect. We pay our respects to Kaurna Elders past and present, and honour their enduring cultural and spiritual connection to Country.

We honour the First Peoples of this land, whose cultures, stories and connections to Country continue across generations.

As we gather on Kaurna Country, we do so with respect for its Traditional Custodians and their continuing care for Country.

About Country and Elders

Country encompasses relationships with land, waters, culture and community. Elders are recognised cultural knowledge holders and leaders. These terms are retained in the Spanish version to respect their specific meaning.
