POETRY · COMMUNITY VOICES

Si no es hoy, será mañana

Jonathan Padilla

Original poem in Spanish.

Read the poem

Cuando pienso en crecer
recuerdo mis experiencias
un conjunto de vivencias
que me hicieron florecer.
Más es vital reconocer
que momentos dolorosos
congelados y borrosos
son también estructurantes
aprendizajes brillantes
con saberes muy valiosos.

Es curioso el resaltar
que algunas grandes virtudes
vienen de vicisitudes
que se han logrado integrar.
Por eso no hay que olvidar
que al vivir uno crece
que en oscuro, resplandece
que el silencio escucha
que no hay victoria sin lucha
si no mata, fortalece

Con paciencia se construye
que no hay terreno baldío
que no hay calor sin frío.
El que se queda, no huye
pues el tiempo atribuye
que al andar uno sana.
Sana, colita de rana
y con humor yo termino
endulzando el camino
si no es hoy, será mañana.

AMARTE CULTURE

Acknowledgement of Country

AMARTE Culture acknowledges the Kaurna People of the Adelaide Plains as the Traditional Custodians of the Country where we gather, create and connect. We pay our respects to Kaurna Elders past and present, and honour their enduring cultural and spiritual connection to Country.

We honour the First Peoples of this land, whose cultures, stories and connections to Country continue across generations.

As we gather on Kaurna Country, we do so with respect for its Traditional Custodians and their continuing care for Country.

About Country and Elders

Country encompasses relationships with land, waters, culture and community. Elders are recognised cultural knowledge holders and leaders. These terms are retained in the Spanish version to respect their specific meaning.
